Our Key West style 2700 square foot home, “Snapper House,” in Bonefish Bay is half way between Key West and mainland Florida. Our home is located on the calm bayside of Islamorada at Mile Marker 76 on the Historic Overseas Highway.


Bonefish Bay is a luxury 5 acre, kid friendly, private gated community of 12 single family homes.  All are individually owned as vacation/second homes.  The Key West styled homes are surrounded by immaculate manicured grounds and old Chicago brick walking paths. Snapper House has its own private pool and hot tub spa. The common areas include 350 feet of shoreline, boat launching ramp, fish cleaning table, fishing and docking pier, tennis court, basketball hoop and a children’s playground. For boaters there is easy Florida Bay and Atlantic Ocean access. The shoreline area includes a crescent white sand beach to enjoy the sun, relax in the hammock, read a book in the shade of the bay side green buttonwoods, play in the warm calm shallow waters for swimming, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling and personal water craft usage. Paddle south to the "hurricane Hole" looking for manatees.  We provide 2 kayaks, 2 stand up paddle boards, 2 adult bicycles, 2 good quality tennis rackets and a basketball for our guest's usage.  The tennis room has additional tennis equipment.  The adjacent room has a commercial ice maker.  You can fish from the pier and walk into the water to snorkel for lobster. We never tire of the stunning sunset views from the beach area and then enjoying an open fire in the beach fire pit. You can make s’mores with your family.


The community was designed to embrace the fabulous west facing bay views. The ground level contains the living/dining great room, large gourmet kitchen, powder room and master bedroom. The entertainment area has a wall mounted HDTV, DVR, DVD player and a stereo system including speakers in the great room, kitchen, outside patio deck and on the upstairs west balcony. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and huge bathroom with a double shower, separate soaking tub and double vanities. The west wall of the great room opens onto a covered deck for dining and relaxing. There is a  gas BBQ, dining table and seating area. The privacy landscaped and fenced pool and hot tub spa deck is old Chicago brick with lounges for sunning.  The granite countered kitchen has an island with farm sink and eat-in area. All of the stainless steel appliances, 48 inch refrigerator/freezer, double oven/microwave, warming drawer, dishwasher and wine cooler are top of the line. The 6 burner cook top is gas.  The kitchen is completely stocked with all necessary small appliances including a coffee maker, cookware, serving pieces, platters, pizza pan, cookie sheets, cutlery, food processor, teapot, toaster, blender, etc.

The upper level has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The upstairs king bedroom has a west balcony with a table and chairs. The laundry room is also located on the middle level and also serves as a kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, coffee maker and electric teapot.

The house has the X-1 Comcast Cable TV and high speed residential Internet.  Passphrase secured wireless Internet access is available on both living levels.

Ocean and Everglades Access

Snapper House has immediate access to Everglades National Park and back country fishing. Atlantic Ocean access is 2.5 miles SW to Channel 2 and 3.5 miles to Channel 5 for larger boats. Robbie's marina and Atlantic Ocean access is 2 miles NE through a mangrove channel.  You must boat, walk or bicycle to Robbie's marina to hand feed the tarpon that come in every day.


Do you rent daily or weekly?  No, the minimum rental is 28 days.  Please visit for an up-to-date availability calendar.

Can rental guests use the boat basin?  Technically no.  We own the property immediately adjacent to Bonefish Bay and share the mouth of the marina.  Our rental guests can dock their boat in our cut in boat slip.

Are children welcomed?  Yes.  We can provide a crib with linens, high chair, and a pack-n-play if asked along with children's pool and beach toys.

Do you allow weddings or events?  No weddings or events are allowed in the community.

Do you allow pets?  No pets.

Can I park my boat trailer on the Bonefish Bay property?  No, our rental guests park their boat trailers on our adjacent property inside the gates.

Are there pool towels?  Yes, we supply very nice pool towels for the number of guests.  

What is supplied with the house?  We supply "starter" paper towels, toilet paper and tissues. There are shampoo, conditioner, body wash and bar soap in the bathrooms.  

Every bathroom has a hair dryer.  The kitchen and refrigerator have dish soap, dishwasher packets, dish towels, new sponge, spices and condiments.  If you use something up please replace it for the next guest.
